Estos engranajes son ampliamente utilizados en la industria por que permiten la transmisi\u00f3n de una mayor carga y velocidad que los engranajes rectos, y son m\u00e1s silenciosos. La principal desventaja es la fuerza axial que causa la h\u00e9lice. Los v\u00e9rtices imaginarios de los engranajes ocupan el mismo lugar. Adem\u00e1s sus ejes se intersectaran en ese punto, formando un \u00e1ngulo entre cero y 180 grados ambos no incluidos.
