What are PET preforms?

PET preforms, better known as “preforms”, are an intermediate product through which the manufacture of bottles is achieved. Process

This product is created through a precision blow molding and injection process. The preform PET is injected into a mold to become a preform that, through an additional blowing step, will take the desired shape (mainly containers for drinks, detergents or any liquid).<\/p>\n

One of the advantages of PET preforms is their great flexibility in terms of design, since very different products can be created through this same process. Depending on the client’s needs, we can vary the weight, volume, color, shape or neck of the bottle.<\/p>\n

PET preforms can be used for the packaging of mineral water, juices, liquors, soft drinks, carbonated drinks, oils suitable for consumption, medicines, pickles, jams, consumer products, etc.<\/p>\n

Two different types of systems can be used, which are:<\/p>\n

Single Stage or Integrated System<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The injection and blowing processes are integrated in the same machine. The preform is injection molded and while it is still hot it is blown to form the part. This method is suitable for small and medium production lines.<\/p>\n

Two Stage System<\/strong><\/h3>\n

In this method, two separate machines are used, a machine for the injection of the preforms and another for blowing to reheat the preforms and make the final piece. This method is best suited for medium and large-scale production.<\/p>\n

Process<\/strong><\/h4>\n

  1. Drying of the Pet (granules)<\/li>\n
  2. Plasticization of PET<\/li>\n
  3. Injection molding of the preform<\/li>\n
  4. Heating the preform<\/li>\n
  5. Blow molding of the preform<\/li>\n
  6. Cooling and expulsion of the final piece<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Standard proformas<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Despite the great malleability of this product, there are some standards in order to simplify the process. Some of the standards that we provide from Gesti\u00f3n de Compras are: PCO, POPP, Bericap, BPF, OIL<\/p>\n

We also offer a complete solution, developing injection molds for PET preforms and caps. We have a great variety of preforms, exceeding 600 models. We always complement the manufacturing process with the “Intravis” quality control system.<\/span><\/p>\n

      We have an immense variety of preforms, ranging from 15cl to more than 20 liters. With a great diversity in the size and shape of the necks.<\/span><\/p>\n
