Das geschmolzene Material wird mit hohem Druck in die formgebenden Kavit\u00e4ten gepresst um das gew\u00fcnschte Bauteil zu erhalten. Die meisten Gussteile werden aus nicht eisenhaltigen Metallen, speziell Zink, Kuper und Aluminium basierende Legierungen. Metallhaltige Gussteile sind ebenso m\u00f6glich. Das geschmolzene Material wird in eine Form gegossen welche mittels einem vorherig erstellten Wachsmodell erstellt wurde. Ist die Form einmal erstellt, so wird das Wachsmodell geschmolzen und flie\u00dft ab. Die Kavit\u00e4t f\u00fcllt sich dabei lediglich durch die Kr\u00e4fte der Schwerkraft, wobei die F\u00fcllung durch Neigung des Werkzeuges kontrolliert werden kann. Sandguss zeichnet sich dadurch aus das Sand als Material zur Formherstellung zum Einsatz kommt. Angewandt wird dieses Verfahren bei geringen Losgr\u00f6\u00dfen. Im Vergleich zu anderen Gussverfahren ist Sandguss g\u00fcnstig.
